Akranes has an outdoor geothermal swimming pool in the centre of town. This is a pleasant and popular place for locals and visitors, and includes five hot pots. It has the usual strict hygiene rules, and is well-equipped. The pool is 25 metres in length, and open every day until late, and charges an entrance fee for use. Also in the same complex as the pool are a number of other sports facilities. If you want to swim indoors, there is another facility at Bjarnalaug.
