Baula is in the volcanic range of hills and mountains around Grábrók and is a large cone shaped mass of rock – a volcano. It is 934 meters high and geologists approximate its age at 3 million years old. Every year many people come to ascend Baula, the easiest route up being from the south west. Local tales tell of a pond on the top of the rock mass, containing a wishing stone. Upon reaching the top climbers look for the pond, and make a wish!
