Blonduos is one of the largest settlements in northern Iceland. It sits at the south eastern edge of Hunafloi, with a wonderful scenic shoreline setting. The town originally survived on a fishing and textile industry. Today it survives on tourism and the large power station just inland. There are many historic wooden houses, shops and other buildings around the centre of town, and a number of museums. Visitors can stay in any of the guesthouses and hotels, and there are plenty of shops and places to eat around.
