Breiğdalur is the largest valley in East Iceland and is comprised mostly of farmland. This farmland is famous in Iceland for being the most fertile and best area for farming in the Eastern fjord area. The valley is surrounded by mountains rising to 1,200 meters in height. There are also stunning peaks and cliffs facing out to sea. The village in Breiğdalur is called Breiğdalsvík, which is an ideal place to start rambling and exploring the local area. There are some local walks which are suitable for the whole family.
