Brimnes is a fishing estate located to the north of the town of Seyðisfjörður. For centuries it was known to be one of the largest and most important fishing estates in the east of Iceland. Although now mostly disused, traces of old fishing buildings can still be found here. Walking to Brimnes is pleasant with lovely scenery and an interesting lighthouse to see. The lighthouse is important as the coastline and rocks nearby can be treacherous to ships.
