Búlandstindur is a large mountain located close to the town of Djupivogur. The mountain is in fact the symbol of the town as it dominates the surrounding landscape. The mountain is just south of the Berufjörður region and is easily accessible by road. Búlandstindur is known as one of the most spectacularly shaped of Iceland’s mountains, and certainly is very striking in appearance. It is 1069m above sea level and is made of basaltic strata, curiously stacked in a pyramidal shape.
