Burfell is a volcanic crater a short distance inland from Hafnarfjordur, in western Iceland. It was formed over 7,000 years ago when the volcano here erupted, sending streams of lava flowing towards the sea. A short 5 mile drive along excellent roads will bring you to Burfell. It is situated in a recreation area known as Heidmork. From here you can hike around the crater and surrounding lava field.
