Bustarfell is a folk museum situated in Hofsárdalur. It is housed in a traditional Icelandic turf farmhouse which has been kept in beautiful condition. The farm stands in the shadow of the mountain Hofsárdalur. Bustarfell was the home of the local sheriff and chieftain. The oldest parts of the farmhouse date from 1770, and the house has been in the same family since 1532. The museum shows historical artifacts and has exhibitions giving information of fascinating Icelandic history. The museum takes visitors through a journey of the history of Icelandic farming and lifestyle changes.
