Dettifoss Waterfall

Dettifoss is a large waterfall, and the most famous attraction in the Jokulsargljufur National Park of northern Iceland. You will likely see the spray from Dettifoss a long time before you see the falls, as it rises high into the air. Incredibly, this is Europe’s largest waterfall in terms of volume of water passing over it, even though it is only 44m high. Tours run from the ranger station at Asbyrgi to the falls, which can be viewed from the canyon on either side. Alternatively, you can walk to the falls from the nearby car park.
