Djupivogur is a lovely town in eastern Iceland which welcomes visitors and tourists with its pretty harbor and historic buildings. The town used to be a trading post, and is the oldest port in this part of Iceland. In the 16th century it traded with German merchants, and in the 17th century was actually plundered by pirates from North Africa. Today its harbor still operates a fishing fleet. In the town you will find a tourist information office, shops, places to eat and stay, and a museum.
