The Packhouse in Hofsos is one of the oldest buildings in Iceland. It was built in 1777. Today it is protected by the National Museum of Iceland, and has been preserved to last. It houses an exhibition on the nearby island of Drangey out in Skagafjordur. This covers the history of the unique outpost and its bird colonies. The exhibition is only open during the summer months, and makes for an interesting excursion whilst visiting Hofsos.
