Dritvik Beach is just around the headland from the similar example at Djupalonssandur. It is located on the western edge of the Snaefellsnes park in Iceland. This is a black sand beach in a wild setting, full of rock outcrops. The beach was once home to a large fleet of fishing boats. Today, you may see lots of rusted pieces of metal strewn across the beach – these are the remains of the trawler Eding, which was wrecked here in 1948. There is a car park at Dritvik Beach, and nearby the Gatklettur rock arch is worth exploring.
