Dyrfjoll Mountains

The Dyrfjoll Mountains are the highest peaks in the Borgafjordur Bay area in eastern Iceland. The peaks rise to over 1100 metres and can be seen from miles away. Usually they are covered in snow. The Dyrfjoll Mountains have a jagged appearance. Climbing them is only to be attempted by experienced mountaineers with the proper equipment. There is a pass through the mountains which reaches 850 metres high, known as the Door, from which the mountains take their name.
