Ellidaey is an island off the western coast of Iceland, close to the town of Stykkisholmur. It is one of the largest islands in the chain here, and looks curiously like a sunken crater of a volcano – this has not been proven or disproven. Throughout history the island was inhabited, both by farmers and fishermen. At one point the island was littered with fishermen’s huts, and had three farms. Today, however, it is not inhabited apart from the bird life nesting here. The remains of a lighthouse can also be found on the island.
