Fjardrargljufur Canyon

Around 5 miles south of Kirkjubaejarklaustur is a lovely picturesque canyon known as Fjardrargljufur. You can find it just off the Ring Road as it heads south, and is signposted. The canyon was formed by the River Fjardra over millions of years. A walking trail runs along the southern side of the canyon, offering many scenic outlooks over and into it. The walk is not challenging, although it can be impassable in snow and adverse weather.
