Flatey Island is, as its name suggests, quite flat. It lies very low in the water of Skjalfandi, off Husavik. Flatey was inhabited until 1942, and some remains of the village here can be seen in ruins today. The island is a haven for bird life. You can reach it as part of a whale watching tour from Husavik.
