Flugsafnid is an Aviation Museum located at Akureyri Airport, to the south of the town. It covers the history of aviation in Iceland, from 1919 to the present day. Inside its large hangar it has many preserved historic aircraft on display. In addition to this, there are plenty of photographs and other items of aeronautica to browse. Historic aircraft are repaired and worked on in the workshop alongside, which can also be visited. Various special exhibitions are held each year – keep an eye on the website for more details. The museum is open throughout the year and has an entrance fee.
