The Folk Song Museum, or Folk Music Centre, is in Siglufjörður and opened in 2006 in the building known as the Madam House. This is where Bjarni Thorsteinsson lived for ten years, and wrote the book Icelandic Folk Music. The museum covers the history of Icelandic folk music, with a variety of instruments on display and plenty of examples of singing and playing demonstrated through CDs and videos. The centre is open from June to September.
