Gallery Shanko Silki is owned and run by Sigrun Lara Shanko who is a prominent textile artist in Iceland. It was first opened to the public in 2003. The gallery shows her designs which are incorporated onto cushions, pillows, clothes and wall hangings. Shanko works in the studio within the gallery and so visitors have the opportunity to watch her at work, especially on the painted silk wall hangings which are her favorite. Most pieces are influenced by Icelandic history or mythology, and a shop is on site to purchase and items as souvenirs.
