The Gamla Pakkhusiđ, or Packing House, in Olafsvik is a small museum which tells the history of the town, which is the oldest trading centre in Iceland. The building was opened in 1841 by a trading family. The development of industry in the town and this building are documented. The Gamla Packing House is also the tourist information office in Olafsvik, with guides on surrounding attractions and outdoor activities. The museum section has a small admission fee and is only open in the summer.
