The church at Glaumbćr, to the north of Varmahlíđ in north western Iceland, has a wonderful interior worth visiting. Although the building itself only dates to 1926, inside you will find an organ made entirely of pinewood, and also Dutch paintings dating from 1685 on the pulpit. These are all that remains of an older church on the site. In the adjacent burial ground is the grave of Snorri Porfinnsson, who was the first European born in North America.
