Glaumbær is a former farm complex dating from the 18th century, to the north of Varmahlíđ in north western Iceland. The turf-roofed buildings have been preserved as some of the best remaining examples of old Icelandic architecture remaining. Today they house the Glaumbaer Folk Museum. This shows what life was like in these buildings, with plenty of original household items. It also shows the costumes and customs of the era off well, with knowledgeable staff on hand. Always a popular diversion in the summer. There is an entrance fee, and the museum is only open from June to late September.
