Gljúfursá is a river near the town of Vopnafjörður in east Iceland. The area has many beautiful and interesting streams flowing from mountain springs into the sea, and river Gljúfursá is no exception. A walk along its banks is rewarded with stunning views of the gorge and regular waterfalls. There is also a pretty bridge at the top of the gorge offering wonderful views of the surrounding area. Close to the river there are also cliffs which are the home to many species of wild bird. The walk from the cliffs also winds down to the beach.
