Glymur is the name of the highest waterfall in Iceland. Standing at 196 meters the waterfall is surrounded by beautiful Icelandic scenery and is a must-see for visitors of western Iceland. The river creating the waterfall is the Botnsá which leaves a large lake close upstream to the waterfall. In order to reach the waterfall one must drive to a small village called Botnsá, and from there hike 350m up the mountain. The waterfall is best seen from the east, and the local area also has volcanoes and tree plantations which are interesting to visit.
