Haelavikurbjarg is a sheer precipice on the edge of Hornstrandir. It rises dramatically out of the ocean up to 258 metres at its peaks, which are situated either side of a depression or hanging valley in the middle. Haelavikurbjarg was used for centuries for collecting birds eggs, and many people have perished here over the years. There are a number of freestanding rocks just off the shore here, and at the base is a pebble cove. The best view of Haelavikurbjarg is from the sea, should you be able to make your way by boat.
