Hafnarnes is an abandoned village at the entrance Faskrudsfjordur Bay, in eastern Iceland. It developed in the 19th century and thrived on the fishing industry until around 1970, when the last residents moved away. Today a number of buildings remain, including a large structure once used as a hospital, school and community centre. An operational lighthouse still exists here, which dates from 1912. The village is still accessible by road, and commands a wonderful view over the fjord and sea.
