As well as being home to the Snaefellsnes National Park Visitor Centre, Hellnar is also a lovely town with great views over the sea and rocky bay. It has a number of sights worth seeing, such as the Bardarlug, which was reputedly the bathing pool of Bardur. The beach is lovely for walking, and has a cave known as Badstofa, which is a nesting ground for many birds. There are accommodation options in Hellnar.
