Hlíđarfjall Ski Centre is located to the west of Akureyri, and includes a fantastic restort and outdoor ski slope – one of the best in Iceland. Despite the quality, it caters for both beginners and those with more experience, and also caters for cross country skiing and snowboarders. There are 12km of slopes and runs. Also on site are a lodge, restaurant, equipment hire, and instruction is offered. The best times for skiing in this part of Iceland are generally between December and early April.
