Hólmaborgir are two low peaks made by lava intrusions near to the town of Reyðarfjörður, to the north of the Reyðarfjörður fjord. The peaks offer a fun climb to the top where visitors can enjoy beautiful scenery. The area is preserved for public enjoyment, but in the months of May and June visitors are asked to keep to paths and not disturb the wildlife because during these months Eider Ducks are nesting in the undergrowth. During this time they may be watched but must not be disturbed.
