Hólmur is a hill made of tuff stone which stands close to the manor house of Hítardalur. In the shadow of the hill there used to be a farm, also named Hólmur, and it was the home of the Icelander Björn Hítdælakappi. Sadly the farm fell into disrepair over the years and now only its ruins are left to be seen. Close to the farm, slightly further up the valley there is a large lake- the Lake of Hit, which is approximately 8km2. The lake contains many trout and so is a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts.
