Hvammstangi’s Church is a modern concrete structure which was built in 1957. It can hold 160 people and overlooks the town from its hillside position. It houses bells from an older church in nearby Kirkjuhvammur, which no longer exists – although the graveyard for the town is still located there. Regular services of worship are held here, and visitors are welcome to attend or simply look around.
