Hveravellir can be found 30km to the north of Kerlingarfjoll in the Icelandic interior. It is a relatively popular geothermal area which can be explored in safety. Stick to the boardwalks and you will see at close hand various hot springs, fumaroles, bubbling waters and multi-coloured rock formations. Most notable parts are Oskurholhver pool with steam constantly rising up, and Blahver, which is a bright blue lake. Tours of the Kjolur Route will terminate at Hveravellir.
