The Iðnó Building is one of the most interesting historic buildings in Reykjavik. It is situated in the centre of the city next to the City Hall. Built in 1897, it was designed by master carpenter Einar Palsson and it is in a neo-classic style. The building is still in its original form, although it underwent reconstruction in 1997. It is considered to be one of the most picturesque buildings in Reykjavik, and started life as the home of the Reykjavik state theatre company which resided in the building until 1989. The building is now used as a function room and restaurant.
