Iceland’s first concrete church was built near Hellissandur-Rif in 1903. It can be found in the small community of Ingjaldsholl, around 2km inland from Hellissandur. The church incorporates some much older tombstones and a wonderful painted wooden altarpiece. Visitors are welcome to come and look around inside if the doors are open, or to attend a service at weekends.
