Jokulsarlon is a popular lagoon to the south of the Skaftafell National Park in southern Iceland. This is a large glacial lake, which unbelievably only formed in 1934 when the Vatnajokull glacier started melting in noticeable amounts. Jokulsarlon is today one of Iceland’s deepest lakes. It is famous for having icebergs floating across it. The Ring Road passes between the lake and the sea, and in the summer it is a breeding ground for seagulls.
