Kelduhverfi is an area at the top of Iceland where you can see strong evidence of the fault line running through the centre of the island, known as the Mid Atlantic Ridge. Like the more famous example at Pingvellir, near Reykjavik, you can see a deep scar running through this site. This is evidence that the plates on either side are pulling apart. Many of the formations here date from as recently as 1975. Around the site are a number of lagoons and lakes. It is good for walking and fishing.
