Open during the summer months in Kirkjubaejarklaustur, a village in southern Iceland, is the Kirkjubaejarstofa Exhibition. This is focussed around archaeological digs and excavations which have been taking place for many years, and look set to continue. Digging around the town, and particularly in the recent lava flows, archaeologists have found the remains of many original 14th- and 15th- century buildings from the convent which was sited here.
