Amongst the lava flows near Kirkjubaejarklaustur in southern Iceland is an area of honeycombed basalt columns which have been smoothed and stuck together naturally, yet look man made. People mistook this as the remains of a church floor as it appears perfectly aligned. You can reach these columns, known as Kirkjugolf, via a short trail leading north ofrom the petrol station in Kirkjubaejarklaustur. It’s just off Route 203.
