Kolkuos was once an important trading post and harbour in northern Iceland. It is situated on the eastern short of Skagafjordur, a little way from Saudarkrokur. The harbour is very scenic, and has been involved in many archaeological excavations in recent years. A number of houses still stand, which were used when the harbour was still in operation and receiving vessels. You can wander round the area freely.
