The town of Vopnafjörđur is in east Iceland. Much of its history comes from the farms which are dotted about the local area. The farms of Krossavík are mostly still inhabited and working today, and there are many walks and trails across the farm land. The farms were established in the time of Settlement by Eyvindur vopni ( Eyvindur the Weaponed) who also named the fjord after himself. The main reason visitors come to Krossavík is to hike, or fish in the well stocked river Hofsá.
