Krýsuvík is an abandoned farming village in the Reykjanes peninsula. Despite it no longer being inhabited it has a wonderful church which is well worth exploring if passing through the village. The church sits on a hillock at the crossing of road 427 (to Grindavik) and road 42 (to Reykjavik or Selfoss). The church was built in 1857 and is of traditional Icelandic wooden design. The church was restored to it’s original glory and was reconsecrated in 1964. It is now under the care of the National Museum.
