Kviar River Valley

One of the best parts of Breidamerkursandur to explore is the Kviar River valley. This leads from the Kviarjokull glacier towards the sea. You can’t drive into the valley, so park in the car park near Route 1 and walk the easy route. There are lots of remains of glacier activity here, with huge boulders and piles of scree, but the valley is quite scenic and well worth the walk. It eventually leads to the Breidarlon lagoon.
