The LA Icelandic Art Museum was originally located in Selfoss, but moved to it’s present location in 2003. The modern minimalistic building of the current museum was completed in 1996 and is made of a mixture of concrete and timber. Since it’s move the museum has acquired a more modern approach to art and now shows a modern balance of contemporary art and design. Both Icelandic and International artists are featured. The permanent collection in the museum contains Icelandic paintings and wooden sculptures from the 20th century. In winter the museum opens by appointment only.
