Álafosskvos is the site of the Álafoss woolens company factory, which has now closed. The building was then turned into several smaller studios for local artists to use for creating their work. Some of these studios are open to visitors but it is advisable to check this in advance with the particular artist. On site there is also a factory shop, one of Mosfellsbaer’s main attractions, where work by these artists is on show and for sale. The shop also sells woolen goods and has a display about Iceland’s woolen industry.
