Lake Skorradalsvatn is the largest lake in Borgarfjörður. Measuring at 16km in length, 1.5km at its widest and 48 meters at its deepest the lake certainly is impressive. The lake has its own legend of a kind of sea monster. Tales have it that a work was made to lie on gold to make the gold grow, but the worm itself grew instead and was then throw into the lake. The worm kept growing until it reached from one side of the lake to the other, and legend has it that the worm lifts its body to hunch out from the water.
