Langanes is a remote peninsula in north eastern Iceland. There is little population here, and many abandoned farms and houses are evident. The scenery is fairly flat, but attractive, with a number of lakes and low hills. There is one larger peak, however, which is the 719m Gunnolfsvikurfjall in the southern part of the peninsula. A lighthouse occupies the cape, which dates from 1910. There are many hiking trails across Langanes, with trail guides available from local towns. There is also a hostel just off Route 869.
