Langjökull Glacier is located just 18km from Húsafell, and is the second largest glacier in Iceland. Visitors to the glacier may explore it themselves, or recommended is the tour company which lies at the foot of the glacier and can provide expeditions onto it, on snow cats and snowmobiles. The lodge there is at a level of 800m above sea level and offers fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. The glacier is well worth a visit all year round- in summer the views are incomparable, and in winter the glacier offers a mysterious and wonderfully isolating feeling.
