The Arni Magnusson Institute is located within the University of Iceland and is tasked in preserving and researching early Icelandic manuscripts. These were originally housed in museums in Denmark, but transferred back to Iceland over recent years. They include poetry, stories and sagas containing wonderful folklore and tales from Iceland’s past. The Manuscript Exhibition showcasing some of the best examples is in the Culture House in the centre of Reykjavik, open every day for a small entrance fee.
