Melstadhur, in Midfjordur, has a church which was built in 1847. It is a concrete building with a lovely colourful interior and carved pulpit by Rikhardur Jonsson. The site has been used for religious purposes since the 13th century, and a series of priests and scholars have been associated with the place. Today services are still held, and visitors are permitted to look inside the church when it is open.
