Munkathvera Church dates back to 1155 when a Benedictine Order was established on the site. The current church building, however, dates from 1844. It is a wooden structure with a bell tower. Inside, it has space for almost 200 people. The original altarpiece from 1425 has sadly been sold to the National Museum of Denmark. Services are still held here regularly, as the church belongs to the Laugaland part of the Eyjafjord deanery. Visitors are welcome to look around.
